The 200 Lap endurance race at Avon Park

The FLA invited everyone down to the Mowerplex to race their machines, nine or so made the drive, we ran four 50 lap races with a 15 minute break to cool down, add fuel, and change drivers. We drew pills for starting position with the faster classes in the rear. We kept track of how many laps everyone completed, who led how many laps, and with each race we inverted the field with the higher finishers in the rear. We had A/P, S/P, C/P, F/X, and B/P represented. This was an awesome format everyone did great jobs driving; we only had one caution the entire race due to a flip by Joe Pearce which he was back on the mower so fast some of us wondered what the caution was for! Everyone learned something from this event, some learned what parts needed to be stronger, some that they can drive someone else's mower like they drive theirs (we had to hold up
our pit board to tell Clay to go faster on my B/P!), and we all got to test our race strategies! All of this for no trophies, no points, no pay, JUST FUN!!! There will be no winners posted, because everyone was a winner!!! Everyone worked to help each other out when problems arose, donated parts, trailer work space, or whatever was needed to keep everone in the race.I've had some of our newer members comment on how they wished they had found this sport long ago, and I say "Amen brother!!!" every time! It's easy to see why this sport has grown so much, has improved in quality of both mowchines and "the show", and has created lasting friendships!

Mow Ya L8R,

Sid
